Street artist and Minneapolis College of Art and Design alumni Eric Rieger, aka HOTTEA, is contributing to the June 9–10 Northern Spark Festival by constructing an interactive installation in the Minneapolis Institute of Art’s Target Wing rotunda. The piece, commissioned by the MIA, is made of 400 yarn skeins, or roughly 82 miles of yarn.
The completed piece will be unveiled June 9 and will include a patch of fake grass below — a place to lie down and look up through the warm, layered colors. The installation will remain on display for at least a month.
